Call for nominations: HEALTH CHAMPIONS MERIT AWARDS

Dear Stakeholders in Health in Nigeria,

The Health Systems and Projects Consultants on behalf of the Coalition of CSOs and NGOs in Health in Nigeria [COCSONGOSH]/Afrihealth Optonet Association and Society for Conservation and Sustainability of Energy and Environment in Nigeria (SOCSEEN) hereby invite nominations for the HEALTH CHAMPIONS MERIT AWARDS (HCMA).

The HCMA is meant to appreciate individuals, communities, organizations/companies/societies, governments, civil society and development partners - dead or alive, Nigerian or foreign – who have contributed to the enthronement of a “state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing, and not just the absence of diseases and infirmities” in Nigeria since 1914.

Each awardee shall receive a commemorative plaque, certificate and pin/lapel of insignia that will always stand her/him out as who she/he is/was in the history of health and sustainable development in Nigeria. Nominations from individuals, government, business, professions, communities and non-government/non-State sectors (NGOs, CSOs, FBOs and CBOs) are welcome. There is no limit to the number of nominations which an individual or entity may make, or the number of areas for which an individual or entity may be nominated for awards.

The Health Champions Merit awards shall specifically be presented for contributions that have successfully promoted/contributed to the realization of Health for All or Sustainable Development in Nigeria, through partnerships/collaboration, advocacy/mobilization, research/M&E/evidence-generation, capacity development/training and outreach interventions/service delivery in the following areas:

All NOMINATIONS must be submitted with the following information:
  1. Name, current or last Position and organization of the nominee
  2. Full contact information of the nominee or next of kin for nominees who have died or ceased to exist (email, phone, postal address, office address, website, blog)
  3. Brief description of the nominee
  4. Justification for the nomination, i.e. why is this nominee among the most influential/best one hundred things that happened to Health in Nigeria, in the last one hundred years
A multi-stakeholders Health Champions Merit Awards selection committee has been set up to assess all nominations and recommend eligible awardees based on merit and stated criteria.
